FAQ - Getting Started

  • GreenForm Golf is a Microsoft Excel based, extensive golfing statistics platform designed for tour professionals and elite amateur golfers. It has been designed with comprehensive feedback from current tour pros and is constantly being refined and improved.

  • The program can be accessed via your internet browser (Google Chrome preferred), however the in-built macro that will upload round data to your Player Dashboard can only run on the Excel application. A GreenForm Golf staff member will be alerted to your round entry and upload the round for you. All other functionality remains identical to using the Excel Application.

  • After completing your round data, the round summary page will provide an overview of your round. Before hitting upload, you can navigate between categories to view in-depth statistics for each shot category.

Once the round has been uploaded, you can use the date filter to view individual rounds.

  • Your coach can be provided with a login and viewing access to your data.

  • Off The Tee (OTT): All strokes from the tee on par 4s and 5s.

Approach: Any stroke from 100 yards or more excluding tee shots on par 4s and 5s.

Short Game: Any stroke from inside 100 yards that is not from the green.

Putting: Any stroke taken from the green.

  • Strokes Gained applies an expected score to hole out based on a player’s current lie and distance to the hole. After making a stroke, a new expected score is applied based on the resulting lie and distance to the hole.

(Expected Score) – (New Expected Score) – 1 = Strokes Gained (or lost)

    Example 1

A player has 160 metres to the hole from the fairway. The expected score to hole out is 3.06. After the resulting shot, the ball is now 30 feet from hole on the green. The expected score is now 1.98.

    3.06 – 1.98 – 1 = +0.08. The player has gained 0.08 strokes.

    Example 2

A player has 200 metres to the hole from the tee. The expected score to hole out is 3.17. After the resulting shot, the ball is now 15 metres from the hole in the rough. The expected score to hole out is 2.51.

    3.17 – 2.51 – 1 = -0.34. The player has lost 0.34 strokes.

  • Dispersion is the average distance remaining to the hole (or target) in relation to the initial shot distance, expressed as a percentage.

Example A: A shot from 100 metres to the hole that comes to rest 5 metres (approx 17ft) from the hole has a 5% dispersion.

Example B: A shot from 200 metres to the hole that comes to rest 5 metres from the hole has a 2.5% dispersion.
